Desta forma, a excre\u00e7\u00e3o da droga do sangue para o leite \u00e9 facilitada quando a droga em quest\u00e3o apresenta: (1) baixo peso molecular, (2) elevada lipossolubilidade, (3) baixa capacidade de liga\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0s prote\u00ednas plasm\u00e1ticas, (4) forma n\u00e3o ionizada, (5) elevada meia-vida de elimina\u00e7\u00e3o, (6) alta biodisponibilidade e (7) elevado poder de concentra\u00e7\u00e3o no plasma materno. Assim, o conhecimento farmacol\u00f3gico pode auxiliar o profissional no momento da prescri\u00e7\u00e3o, devendo-se optar por f\u00e1rmacos com baixa excre\u00e7\u00e3o do plasma para o leite. Outro aspecto importante \u00e9 o pico s\u00e9rico da droga. Usualmente, o pico na corrente sangu\u00ednea da m\u00e3e coincide com o pico no leite materno, sendo menor neste. Accordingly, drug transfer from blood into breast milk is facilitated by (1) low molecular weight, (2) high lipid solubility, (3) low plasma protein binding capacity, (4) non-ionized forms, (5) long elimination half-life, (6) high bioavailability and (7) high concentration in the maternal plasma. Pharmacological knowledge may thus aid drug prescription by healthcare providers, who should choose drugs with low transfer rates from plasma to milk. Another important factor is the time to peak serum concentration of the drug. Usually, the peak concentration in the mother&#8217;s bloodstream coincides with the peak in the breast milk, which is lower.
